The Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes is due to run at Caulfield Racecourse on Sunday September 29, 2013.

The 2013 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes will take place under open handicap conditions and is open to horses of all ages.

Scheduled to run as part of Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes Day, the race shares its program with the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude and Listed Testa Rossa Stakes.

Pinwheel is likely to feature in the 2013 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes field according to trainer Peter Snowden.

Snowden is hoping the talented galloper can finally claim his first Group 1 after recovering from an injury he sustained in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes in February this year.

“Pinwheel is back in work and the signs are good that he has fully recovered from the suspensory injury,” Snowden told AAP.

“He is starting to do a bit of pace work and I’m hoping he will be ready to trial in about three weeks.

“He is a lovely old horse who has handled his rehabilitation well and who knows, maybe there is a Group One for him.”

Pinwheel has won 12 of his 38 race starts and has earned more than $1.15 million in prize money during his horse racing career.
